• There are no tryouts for the Rec Plus program.

• Rec Plus practices 2 times per week, once with their coach and once with a professional trainer. Training and practices begin the 1st weekend of August and continue for the duration of the season. Each team is assigned a trainer and training time. Training sessions are held at the Mustang Soccer Complex.

• Rec Plus players pay an additional $300 fee which covers the cost of the professional trainers, the season kick off jamboree and the mid-season Saddleback tournament.  The total cost to play in this program is $625 ($700 if registration is after June 15th).

• League play begins the weekend of August 26th. Because there is tournament play as well as League play, Rec Plus players may play games on both Saturday and Sunday occasionally during the season.

• Rec Plus teams play in the Saddleback Tournament mid season which is a purely Rec Plus tournament.

• Rec Plus teams also play in the Dick King End of Season Tournament beginning November 8th. This is a single elimination tournament so some teams will go on to play the following weekend. 

Season: League games begin on the weekend of August 26th, and culminate with the Dick King End-of-Season Playoffs usually beginning the 1st weekend in November.  There are no games on Labor Day Weekend.  

Age Group Coordinators: Your AGC is your resource for questions pertinent to your age group/gender. They are also responsible for coach recruitment. The full list of 2017 AGCs will be posted in May.  If you are interested in volunteering to be an Age Group Coordinator, please contact liz@mustangsoccer.com.  You do not need to have any coaching experience to be an AGC. 

Team Formation: Teams are formed based on school/zone codes. Returning coaches are allowed to request  a certain number of players from their previous season, depending on age group, which includes the children of the head and assistant coaches. 

U9/U10: *4 players (including children of head and assistant coaches)

U11/U12: *5 players (including children of head and assistant coaches)

U13/U14, U15/U16, U17/U19: *6 players (including children of head and assistant coaches)

*Note: Friend Requests will be INCLUSIVE of a Coach's Player Protection request. 

Team Formation Requests: Because of the size of the Rec Plus program  the League is unable to accommodate any coach, team, practice schedule, carpool, or after school care requests. The only way to guarantee placement on a specific team is to be part of the coaching team (one head coach and two assistant coaches) or if you are one of the eligible protected players from last year’s team.  You may make one friend or sibling request but NO REQUESTS ARE GUARANTEED.  If you list more that one request only the first name will be considered.

School/Zone Code: Your school and address zone tells the League where your player attends school and the area in which you live. This information is used as one component of Rec Plus team formation so it is important that it is accurate.

Coach Training: Coach training/licensing classes are being scheduled for 2017. Sign up for the Youth Level I, Youth Level II, Youth Level III, Youth Level IV, or Junior Level V sessions to make sure the class meets the minimum participation requirement.  

Coach Background Checks: All new Mustang head and assistant coaches must complete a fingerprint background check. Click here for a description of the background check process.
